“talk speech” speech and language therapy
If your child sees a ‘Talk Speech’ therapist in school, they will be busy during this time, carrying out a range of tasks for the children including report and target writing for individual children, video-therapy with families, and the creation of learning materials for staff.
They are also posting videos of Attention Autism sessions, Lego Therapy, Makaton signs and information about other interventions on their Talk Speech and Language Therapy Facebook page and Instagram (@TalkSLT)
Email the SEN team at ILM.SEN@e-act.org.uk for more information.
There are some great ideas here for activities to aid communication development: Speech and Language Learning Pack
A message from the school’s bought-in Speech and Language Therapist:
While many of us are spending more time at home with our children, take a look at the Talk SLT Facebook page. Resources, fun and engaging videos, Makaton-signed stories and lots more will be regularly posted on here for everyone to join in with at home: https://www.facebook.com/talkslt/
Makaton is a great tool that uses, signs, symbols and speech to support people’s communication. It is used more and more by the general public to aid communication. Have a go and have fun with the Makaton ‘your home’ pack that is free to Download until Monday 30st March 2020: https://www.makaton.org/shop/shopping/freeDownloadDetails/Your-Home-3. If you miss this deadline, get in touch with the school, and the Speech and Language Therapist can distribute a copy.
