Year 1

Teaching and learning
In Year 1, the children will be transitioning away from play-based learning and beginning to work more independently at their tables. Towards the end of year one, all children will take part in the national phonics screening check. We will be holding parents meetings during the year, where you can learn more about this.

Key Weekly Information
- Children are expected to read every night and have their reading record signed
- On PE days children should arrive at school in kit. This consists of black shorts or joggers, plain white t-shirt and a plain black hoodie (if needed) and sensible shoes.
